  Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) Year 2 Competitive Grant

  Competitive Grant Opportunity Total Amount of Funds Available: Up to $1,300,000

   

   

  Purpose

   

  The purpose of this competitive grant opportunity is to provide districts/local educational agencies (LEAs) with schools designated for Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) Year 2 with support for improving outcomes for identified student group(s) with activities funded through Title I, Section 1003 under section 1111(d). The grant will be used to implement action plans that specifically address identified student group(s) through implementation of evidenced based practices (EBPs), high quality instructional materials (HQIM), and/or strengthened professional learning for educators. The grant application should enhance the school improvement plan and also speak directly to the practices to be implemented to close the achievement gap for the identified student group(s). Anticipated results include a decrease in the achievement gap, increase in overall school performance, and establishment of sustained systems that ensure all students have access to high quality instruction.

   

  Requirements

   

  LEA supported school action plans should reflect evidence-based practices (EBPs) that target the identified student group(s) and assure that each school the local educational agency proposes to serve will receive all of the state and local funds it would have received in the absence of these funds. Plans should indicate monitoring of the implemented EBP(s), regular data collection, and analysis for reflection and refining.

   

  Eligibility

   

  Any LEA with schools designated for Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) Year 2 that receive Title IA funding are eligible to apply. Collaboration between schools and district / LEA are essential to implement action steps aligned to the purpose of this grant.

   

  Implementation Plan (Application Worksheet Here)

   

  Eligible LEAs with schools designated with TSI Year 2 status interested in the Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) Year 2 grant opportunity must develop an action plan with a brief description that addresses each of the following:

   

  #1 Description of the student achievement data for the targeted student group at each school compared to the overall student achievement data at each school over the past two years. 

   

  #2 Overview of the action plan, including (a) evidence based practices to be implemented, (b) the professional learning to be provided, (c) the implementation monitoring tool(s), (d) the content area of focus (if applicable,) and (e) how the plan will align with current school initiatives.

   

  #3 Plan for implementation of the action plan, including (a) monitoring, (b) coaching and feedback, (c) evaluation of plan, and (d) support from district / LEA level leadership in the implementation. 

   

  #4 Projected cost for the implementation, including a budget table that outlines how the funds will be used to carry out the evidence based practices to advance student achievement for the identified student group(s).
