Description
Manufacturing Innovation Equipment Grants
Eligible companies can apply for grants for the purchase of specialized equipment aimed at helping manufacturers increase productivity, efficiency and competitiveness.EXAMPLES
· Machinery acquisition, such as a 3D printer
· Specialized equipment for automation, such as collaborative robotics
· Advanced and autonomous robotics
· Equipment for process improvements
Manufacturing Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) Infrastructure Investment Grants
Eligible companies can apply for grants for the purchase of specialized hardware or software in the Industry 4.0 technology groups.EXAMPLES
· IIoT infrastructure hardware, such as enhanced server equipment to enable more cloud computing
· Cybersecurity software
· Predictive maintenance software
· Sensor integration into industrial tools and shop floor machinery to determine wear or flaws
· Industrial wearable technology integration to prevent injury
· Data analytics software/engineering
· Data visualization software
· Augmented reality equipment
· Sensor-driven transmission of real-time information from factory-floor to customers or suppliers
· Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tagging software and equipment to track inventory
The lifetime maximum amount of awards to a single applicant is $75,000.
GRANT REQUIREMENTS
· Match ratio – A minimum 1:1 matching grant ratio is required for both programs. The match must be in the form of cash. Financial support must be provided from a private source.
· Manufacturing 4.0 Assessment – Manufacturers will be required to undergo an assessment by the Center for Industrial Research and Service (CIRAS) to develop a plan for their investment in advance of submitting a grant application. CIRAS is offering these assessments to help manufacturers identify the opportunities and risks associated with Industry 4.0 implementations in their business. A CIRAS assessment can take place at any time in advance of the grant application.

ELIGIBILITY
· Small- and medium-sized manufacturers (SMEs) with a minimum of three employees and fewer than 125 full-time employees across all locations
· Iowa manufacturers with NAICS codes 31-33, used in the Manufacturing 4.0 report
· A minimum of 51% of applicant’s revenue must be derived from the sale of manufactured goods
· Applicants must have been in operation for at least three years
APPLICATION PROCESS
· IEDA staff will review applications and may utilize the assistance of a technical review panel for subject matter expertise to review an application.
· Grants will be awarded on a reimbursement basis – no investment can be made prior to the date of the application.
· Grant agreements last one year from the date of award, providing recipients one year to purchase equipment or software, place it in service and seek reimbursement.
