    Excerpts from the Application:

    Purpose

The purpose of this Application Guidance is to provide eligible applicants information on completion of the application for the Family Development and Self-Sufficiency (FaDSS) program. Services covered by this application include structured home visits conducted by skilled family development Specialists, assessments and screenings that support healthy self-exploration, science-informed goal pursuit, a framework and process for skill building, and connecting families to stabilizing supports and opportunities in their communities.

The Agency is actively working to strengthen our capacity to address health inequities in Iowa. Health equity is defined as the attainment of the highest possible level of health for all people by achieving the environmental, social, economic and other conditions in which all people have the opportunity to attain their highest possible level of health.

This program promotes health equity through dynamic partnerships with families to address their basic needs and develop career opportunities that, in turn, improves lives, families, and communities. Economic Stability is one of the five conditions of Social Determinants of Health that impacts health outcomes. The program strengthens essential core skills for employment such as goal setting and connects families to education and training opportunities to create sustainable economic growth and stability. By taking an individualized, strength-based approach, program staff create safe and supportive relationships with families to address emotional well-being and build advocacy skills.
