  Program Description

  Purpose: The purpose of the Iowa Apprenticeship Act (15B) grant is to provide financial assistance to sponsors who conduct and maintain an apprenticeship program, that has been registered and meets DOL/OA specific requirement standards. Funds awarded may only be used to help cover the cost of conducting and maintaining an apprenticeship training program.

  Funding Priorities

  Funding available under this grant is based on the applicant’s proportionate share of the statewide total of qualified registered apprentices participating in a qualified registered apprenticeship program. award.

   

  Qualifications for Eligibility

  All applications must include performance measures that logically connect a project’s goal(s) with proposed activities and evidence ensuring the continuation and maintenance of the registered apprenticeship program(s). Required performance measures to be addressed within the application include but are not limited to:

  · Applicants must have an apprenticeship program, registered by the DOL/OA, through Iowa, for apprentices who will be employed at Iowa worksites.

  · Only registered apprentices who reside in Iowa are eligible to be included in a sponsor’s application for funding.

  · A qualified registered apprentice that can be included in the applicant’s total apprentice count is defined as an active or completed apprentice during the most recent training year (January 2023 – December 31, 2023)

  · Applicants must provide a minimum of 100 in-person contact hours to qualify for funding.

   

  Award Information

  Estimated Available Funds

  The State of Iowa has appropriated $3 million in FY 24.

   

  Estimated Award Amount

  Grant funding awarded through IWD may vary in amounts as determined by the number of qualifying apprentices and number of qualifying applicants.

   

  Program and Award Period

  To request grant funds all, the following conditions must be met:

  · A sponsor must have a registered apprenticeship program that meets DOL/OA specific requirements and standards to be eligible to apply.

  · Must have 1 or more registered apprentices with DOL/OA.

  · Only registered apprentices who reside in Iowa are eligible to be included in a sponsor’s application for funding.

  · Applicants must provide a minimum of 100 in-person related training instructional hours to qualify for funding.

  · Programs are eligible to apply at IowaGrants.gov for Iowa Apprenticeship Act grant funds annually during the January application window.

  · Applicants receiving 15B funding will not be eligible for 15C funds during the same fiscal year.
