    Excerpts from the RFP:

    Purpose

The purpose of this RFA is to provide guidance for current contractors to submit continuation applications to the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (referred to as Agency) to renew service provisions as described by and within the project period established by the RFPs #58823023, #58823027 and #58823030. Services covered by this application include applying the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) to address excessive adult alcohol misuse and alcohol-involved deaths in adults aged 45 and older in the seven awarded counties. The Agency is actively working to strengthen our capacity to address health inequities in Iowa. Health equity is defined as supporting opportunities for everyone to live the healthiest life possible through the reduction of barriers in environmental, social, economic and other conditions which impact health. This grant promotes health equity through the Strategic Prevention Framework model and its guiding principle step Cultural Competency which adheres to and promotes 15 Cultural and Linguistic Appropriate Service (CLAS) Standards. Use of CLAS is a way to improve the quality of services provided to all individuals, which will ultimately help reduce health disparities and achieve health equity. (Refer to Section 6 for additional information on CLAS).

Dec 21, 2023 8:04 AMHi Merry, Penny and I are currently working on our budget for the RFA. One question we had was whether budget could be spent to attend events that we are working with for our Alcohol Restrictions at Public Events strategy. We want to ensure that this is an allowable expense as we will be required to attend as part of our action plan. Thank you for the clarification, Haley Event entry fees to community events can be budgeted, however the fee must be detailed and directly associated with the strategy (i.e. event fee for the PFS-PAM Coordinator to complete Project SAFER Community Event Assessment). Mileage to/from the event can also be budgeted.
